Irish trans healthcare is in crisis. We face a centralised, paternalistic, and pathologising system, with interminable wait lists that harm our communities every day. Systemic barriers mean that many Irish trans people are left with far too few options: travel overseas, pay for expensive private services often based abroad, or self-medicate. Yet uniquely, Ireland has no laws or policies that restrict our care, so it doesn't have to be this way.
Our Story
Trans Healthcare Action exists to realise the transformation we know is possible. Since 2022, we have been mapping and building our tools, resources, networks, and dreams — advocating in political spaces, challenging medical systems, and strengthening our communities.
With more than 50 volunteers across the country, we are organising to create a new system wherein trans people can not only survive, but thrive — a system where our care, bodies, and lives are fully liberated.
